Professor Janos Simon receives Quantrell Award

We are pleased to announce that our director, Professor Janos Simon, is one of the five recipients of the 2008 Llewellyn John and Harriet Manchester Quantrell Award. The Quantrell Award is believed to be the nation’s oldest prize for undergraduate teaching. Based on letters of nomination from students, the award is among the most treasured by faculty.

Alumnus wins New Venture Challenge

Matt Maloney

A national panel of venture capitalists awarded grubhub.com, a website founded in Chicago by two friends, first place out of over 60 entries in the 10th Annual Edward L. Kaplan New Venture Challenge at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Founded by Mike Evans and Matt Maloney ‘01, both of whom have masters degrees in computer science and used to work at apartments.com, Grubhub has been a labor of love until now.

New Immersion Phase

Beginning the summer quarter 2006, we are reshaping the immersion course plan as follows. Instead of offering two courses each equivalent to 1.5 standard course, the immersion phase will now comprise three courses.
