Applying for Graduation

How to Apply for Graduation

  1. Application Deadline:
    1. Graduation applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the first Friday of the quarter in which you plan to graduate. Late applications will not be accepted.
  2. Check Your Graduation Date:
    1. Log into the student portal, myUChicago.
    2. Navigate to “My Information” and then click on the “Academic” tab.
    3. To change your graduation date, click on “Edit” to update your “Expected Graduation Date”. A message will indicate if you are eligible to apply for a degree online.
  3. Graduation Application Review:
    1. During the second week of the quarter, your records will be reviewed to verify that you have met all graduation requirements.
    2. An email will be sent by the end of week two, notifying you whether your graduation application has been approved.
  4. Final Grades:
    1. Final grades for graduating students are due by the end of week 10 (week 9 for the summer quarter).
    2. Graduating students must complete final exams/projects in advance to allow instructors to report final grades on time.
    3. Students receiving a grade lower than C+ will be removed from the convocation list.

Optional Practial Training (OPT) Application

Students eligible for OPT are encouraged to review the application process on the UChicago Office of International Affairs (OIA) website. To request your Verification of Completion form, visit the Verification of Completion form
